SaffScan - Enterprise Document Scanner & PDF Studio (Package Name: com.theocs.saffscan) is an offline-first, professional mobile document scanning, computer vision enhancement, on-device OCR, and PDF workstation application developed and operated by THE OCS TECHNOLOGY (theocstechnology.com). SaffScan is architected with a strict privacy-first foundation: all edge detection, perspective transformation, image filtering, text recognition, and PDF compilation execute locally on your physical Android hardware without transmitting document imagery or text to external servers.

SaffScan operates without mandatory user registration or account creation. We do NOT harvest, collect, sell, lease, or monetize your private documents, contracts, identity papers, bills, receipts, or personal notes. Your scanned files, extracted OCR texts, and generated PDFs remain strictly isolated within your device's secured local storage. Zero bytes of your scanned documents leave your device unless you explicitly trigger an external share action.

SaffScan requests camera hardware access (android.permission.CAMERA) solely to facilitate real-time document boundary detection, perspective cropping, continuous multi-page batch capture, and high-resolution scanning via AndroidX CameraX. Camera frames are processed strictly in ephemeral on-device memory buffers and are never recorded in background, streamed, or transmitted to any third-party or remote cloud server.

In compliance with Google Play Developer Policies and Android 11+ storage guidelines, SaffScan requests storage permissions (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) strictly for explicit user-directed functions: (a) Importing existing document photos from your device gallery; (b) Saving finalized PDF, Word, and Excel documents to public user storage (e.g., Downloads/Documents/SaffScan); (c) Enabling the built-in document reader to browse and view local PDF, Word, and Excel files at the user's direction.

Document boundary detection, 4-corner contour localization, perspective dewarping, shadow removal, and contrast enhancement filters (Auto Magic Color, B&W, Grayscale, Color) are executed locally via native compiled C++ OpenCV binaries and GPUImage hardware-accelerated shaders. No document bitmap is uploaded to any cloud vision service for image enhancement.

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is powered entirely by Google ML Kit's on-device text recognition engine running locally on your device's CPU/NPU. Extracted text, tabular data, and document transcriptions are computed locally and stored only in your device's private database. No extracted text is sent to Google, OpenAI, or any remote AI cloud.

PDF generation, compression, page rotation, multi-page merging, and page splitting are processed 100% offline using Apache PDFBox for Android. The built-in Excel spreadsheet viewer and Word document reader parse files directly on-device using local parsing logic, ensuring complete confidentiality for proprietary business and personal spreadsheets.

All document metadata, page thumbnails, filter presets, and categorization tags are stored in a private Android Room SQLite database on your device (/data/data/com.theocs.saffscan/). You retain absolute sovereignty over your records: you can permanently delete individual documents or clear page batches with a single tap. Uninstalling SaffScan or clearing application data permanently and irreversibly erases all local database entries and cached files.

When you choose to export or share a document via WhatsApp, Gmail, Google Drive, or Bluetooth, SaffScan generates secure, temporary content URIs using androidx.core.content.FileProvider (content://com.theocs.saffscan.fileprovider). These URIs grant temporary read-only permissions that automatically expire once the destination application completes receipt.

SaffScan is completely ad-free. The application contains zero advertising SDKs (no Google AdMob, Unity Ads, AppLovin, or Facebook Audience Network) and zero data-broker trackers. We do not participate in behavioral tracking, device fingerprinting, or cross-app profiling.

To ensure high stability across thousands of Android device models, SaffScan may transmit anonymous, non-personally identifiable crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics. This telemetry is limited strictly to technical crash stack traces, Android OS version, and GPU architecture. It contains ZERO personal identifiers, ZERO file names, and ZERO document contents.

Any optional Pro upgrades or premium feature unlocks are processed exclusively through Google Play In-App Billing. THE OCS TECHNOLOGY never receives, collects, or stores your credit card numbers, debit cards, UPI credentials, or financial account details. All transactions are securely processed under Google's PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant infrastructure.

SaffScan is an enterprise document productivity utility intended for general audiences aged 13 and above (or 16 in the European Economic Area). SaffScan does not knowingly solicit or collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. THE OCS TECHNOLOGY adheres to global privacy benchmarks including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA). Because SaffScan does not store your documents on remote servers, your rights to access, rectification, portability, and erasure are physically controlled directly through your device.
